The United States Marine Corps, or USMC, is one of the branches of the United States military. Different branches of the military have different entry requirements, but it is possible to enlist in the Marine Corps without a high school diploma. Ninety percent of Marines are required to have a diploma, but the Marine Corps has a policy of accepting no more than 5 percent of recruits without one. Enroll in a university course. It is a good idea to take courses that will help you with the ASVAB test such as math or English.

Below you will find information from the Army “Standards of Medical Qualification.” These standards are generally applicable to all other branches. Remember that most of these conditions are not necessarily permanent disqualifications, but are red flags.

Joining The Navy With Prior Military Service

A. Esophagus. Ulcers, varicose veins, fistulas, achalasia or other movement disorders; chronic or recurrent esophagitis if confirmed by appropriate X-ray or endoscopy.

(2) History of abdominal surgery within the previous 60 days, except that individuals after laparoscopic cholecystectomy may be eligible after 30 days.

This includes muscle pain disorders and/or disorders that are not easily corrected or may cause significant future problems with pain and function.
