Are the drives fixed or am I missing something? If I go into the hangar, nothing happens. If I leave the plane, stay near it, save and reload, it disappears.

Ok guys, I found a solution that worked for me. I don’t know if there are other ways, but this one definitely works:
I found that with Trevor’s second hangar, if you steal a fighter and park it as far into the hangar as you can, then steal another one and park it in front of that, then they will both save and the one in front will respawn.
I just stole a jet from Los Santos airport and moved it to Trevor’s (bigger) hangar and somehow it was saved even though I blew it up. Now I can fly with him at any time since he always respawns. Try it yourself!

The only dilemma players may face is trying to buy a luxury car instead of just stealing it. This applies more to jets than other vehicles in GTA Online.
Jets are probably the easiest way to show off your wealth in Los Santos. While a supercar or yacht is nothing to scoff at, there’s something about a jet that screams luxury. There are many ways for players to steal a jet in GTA Online. For example, Fort Zancudo has a LAZER fighter that players can steal relatively easily if they know how to get into the fort.
If players don’t want to steal a jet, they’ll have to buy one. Here are the different methods players can use to get their own plane in Los Santos.

To purchase a jet, players can visit the Warstock website from their mobile device or computer. This is the only website that sells all the jets that players can purchase in GTA Online.
By going to the Warstock website, players can view the various options available to them. For sale are military tanks and other equipment, as well as vehicles such as jeeps. The reactive section of the website is in the middle of this military stuff. Players just need to click on the jets section and they will see all the different jets that Warstock has to offer.
However, before even attempting to purchase a jet, players must ensure that they also purchase an aircraft hangar to store it. Aircraft hangars were released as purchasable items in the Smuggler’s Run update for GTA Online in August 2017. To purchase one for themselves, players can visit the Maze Bank Foreclosures website and select the hangar section. There are several different locations to choose from, including three at Fort Zancudo. There are also some cheaper fighters like the B-11 Strikeforce and the Mammoth Hydra. The Strikeforce is the cheapest of the lot at $3.8 million and is best suited for players who want a more precise and streamlined jet. On the other hand, the Mammoth Hydra is just as fast as the LAZER, but has better braking and less acceleration. Hydra is worth almost 4 million dollars.
Moving on to the non-combat options, there is the Buckingham Luxor Deluxe and the Buckingham Shamal. The former is one of the most expensive vehicles in GTA Online, costing a whopping $10 million. This jet is the pinnacle of luxury in GTA Online, reaching roughly the same speed as fighter jets. Although it is extremely difficult to deal with him in the air. Luxor Deluxe has golden paint and a shiny interior.
